New polling shows that nearly half of consumers say they’re more likely to find businesses that offer repair, refill or recycling services than they were a year ago.
The new research by Censuswide and Smart Energy GB found that Brits were increasingly choosing to repair broken items instead of replacing them, saving them an average of £100+ in 2024, with many businesses also embracing circular practices as they look at ways to reduce waste.
Over a third (35%) of small businesses polled have seen an increase in profits compared to last year, which they primarily link to customers being more aware of their sustainability efforts (33%), as well as managing their overheads more effectively (26%). Nearly a quarter (24%) say they are better at managing their energy usage and costs than they were a year ago.
They say customers are driven by wanting to be more environmentally friendly (22%) and to save money (22%)
